Estimate when your channel will meet YouTube Partner Program requirements — and see how the new rules taking effect February 1, 2027 (8,000 watch hours or 20M Shorts views) change your timeline.
Eligibility timeline
Subscribers remaining: 650 · Watch hours remaining: 2,800 (of 4,000 required today)
At this pace you qualify around August 5, 2027.
Your projected date falls after February 1, 2027, so the new 8,000-hour requirement applies — your estimate above already uses the higher threshold.
Monetization requirements from February 1, 2027
Full monetization (ad & YouTube Premium revenue) requires 1,000 subscribers — unchanged — plus one of:
- Long-form path: 8,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months (doubled from 4,000).
- Shorts path: 20M qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days (doubled from 10M).
Fan funding tier (Supers, Memberships, Shopping) is unchanged: 500 subscribers, 3 valid public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 watch hours (12 months) or 3M Shorts views (90 days).
Estimated ad revenue
Estimated monthly ad revenue: $200 (at a $4 average RPM for vlogs & daily life)
Roughly $2,400 per year. RPM varies widely by niche, audience country, and format — treat this as a rough range, not a promise.
Ongoing rules for existing & monetized channels
- Grandfathering: channels accepted into the YouTube Partner Program before February 1, 2027 keep their status and don't need to re-qualify at 8,000 hours.
- Shorts revenue threshold: all channels must maintain 10M qualified Shorts views over a rolling 90-day window to keep earning from the Shorts Creator Pool; below that, Shorts revenue pauses (long-form ad revenue is unaffected).
- Activity standard: monetized channels must meet at least one of: 1,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days, 1M qualified Shorts views in 90 days, or 2 long-form / 5 Shorts uploads every 90 days.
- Terms deadline: existing partners must accept the updated monetization terms in YouTube Studio by January 31, 2027.
Watch time from private, unlisted, deleted, or ad-only content does not count, which is why Studio totals can look higher than the qualifying number.
